How to use this tool
- Set your desired password length using the slider (8–128 characters).
- Choose which character types to include: uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols.
- Optionally exclude ambiguous characters (O/0, I/l/1/|) that look similar in some fonts.
- Click Generate Password for one password, or Generate 5 for multiple options.
- Click Copy next to any password to copy it to your clipboard.
Security information
- Passwords are generated using
window.crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. - An unbiased rejection sampling technique ensures each character in the pool has an equal probability of selection.
Math.random()is never used for password generation.- Generated passwords are never stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere.
- No password can be guaranteed to be unbreakable. Use a password manager and enable two-factor authentication when available.
Frequently asked questions
Password strength depends on length and character diversity. A 20-character password using all four character groups (uppercase, lowercase, digits, symbols) has very high entropy. The approximate entropy is shown after generation. Longer passwords with more character types are stronger.
Some characters look very similar in certain fonts: the letter O and digit 0, the letter I and digit 1, lowercase L and the pipe symbol |. Excluding these makes passwords easier to read and type manually, at a small cost to entropy.
